Running Through Change
I didn’t grow up as a runner or in an active family. I found running later in life, in my 30s, and it slowly became something much bigger than just exercise. It became a way to cope with life, grow as a person, gain confidence in myself. I was able to think and breathe in a different way. I felt strong, like I could accomplish things in life. I felt worthy. When I later joined a running group, I found people who had a light and positive view on life. I was hooked!
Now that I’m getting older, I’m getting more interested in how running feels when hormones start throwing tantrums. It can be truly difficult and frustrating to keep up with running or start running at this stage with energy, recovery and mood all fluctuating. But everything is possible and I want to help.
Over the years, I’ve grown into being an endurance runner. I’m also a nurse, and a running coach. I’m someone who understands what it feels like when your body changes and you have to figure things out all over again. I’m someone who cares about finding solutions when things get hard.
Don’t lose hope.
Rather listen to your body and keep adjusting. Find new ways to make it work when the old ways fall apart. You can do this!
